The Bow river boat launch, located near 22x highway in
south Fish Creek Provincial Park has an excellent parking lot and
boat launch ramp. The launch is mainly used by fly fisherman for drift
boats floating downstream to Policeman's flats (launch), McKinnon
flats (launch), Legacy (Launch) and Caresland (Launch). Watercraft
with motors are not allowed in the City of Calgary. This boat launch
is one of the largest and best launches found in Alberta but loses
most it's usefulness as it is closed at 10PM. Evening floats toward
or away from the launch can get you back after the closed
time of 10PM. The Calgary fly fishing, guiding and tackle industry
generate several million dollars to the local economy each year, yet
the boat launch is inaccessible at needed times? Unfortunately we
receive several complaints regarding it's closure time. |
