The Rodeo and the West – Donald Woodman

The Cowboy and the Spaceman – Colin Kirkpatrick
Colin Kirkpatrick’s The Cowboy and the Spaceman addresses environmental issues through the exploration of two very different views of planet earth. The cowboy, sitting a top his horse gazes out at the limitless horizon, whereas the spaceman’s view back toward the earth is of a small, finite, blue and green sphere. It asks the viewer to consider – are you a cowboy or a spaceman?

Up Up and Away
A new adventure each day!
We proudly introduce an exciting new Summer Camp for boys and girls ages 4-8 featuring a fantastic mix of cultural stories, games, music, dance and activities enjoyed by children around the world.
Each morning our junior globetrotters hop into our huge imaginary hot air balloon using our parachute and their imagination, we’ll sail away to a far off land for a fun filled day of adventure and exploration.
The kids curiosity will be inspired as we learn a little and play a lot with geography and the wonders of our great big world.
Upon arrival at camp each explorer will be issued a travel kit including their passport to adventure, that‘s stamped at each place we visit, play money to spend throughout camp, binoculars and post cards to send to loved ones at home.
Learn to say friend in the languages of the countries we visit, and enjoy tasty native treats along the way like fruit crepes, Egyptian bread, Mexican desserts, pineapple and lychee's
Every day will bring a new experience as we visit Egypt and dig for ancient Egyptian artifacts, Africa for a wild safari, China where we’ll build a great wall and tear it down and take part in a dragon parade, France where we’ll visit the Eiffel tower and paint masterpieces along the banks of the Seine. Mexico will be a blast as we make our own pinatas and fill them with treats to be shared by all and learn a Mexican hat dance. We’ll even visit a Luau in Hawaii. Making masks, and costume accessories adds to all the fun.
We'll add to the setting of each adventure by way of our amazing props including our 7 foot Eiffel Tower, giant safari animals, Chinese dragons, Palm Trees and more!

TAKE THE LEAP!
Sign up for the Easter Seals Drop Zone and become a Superhero to Easter Seals kids in Alberta!
Easter Seals Alberta is pleased to challenge you to take a ‘rappel of faith’ in support of children with disabilities and special needs in Alberta. The Easter Seals Drop Zone will take place on September 10th, 2009 in Calgary. A number of fearless participants will safely be descending down the Sun Life Tower in downtown Calgary.
From Halifax to Victoria, executive thrill-seekers will be accepting the Drop Zone challenge and raising much needed funds for Easter Seals programs from coast to coast. By participating in the Easter Seals Drop Zone, you not only support these wonderful programs, but you also join an exclusive network of Canadian business leaders who have experienced and/or supported The Drop Zone. In 2008, we raised more than $180,000 for Easter Seals Programs, an enormous success that we intend to repeat in 2009!
At Easter Seals Camp Horizon we encourage our young campers with disabilities and special needs to challenge themselves in ways they never thought possible. Through our Equipment and Support Services program, we provide families with necessary mobility and adaptive equipment needed to ensure independence in their home and community. Your participation in the Easter Seals Drop Zone will make a difference to the thousands of Albertans with disabilities and special needs that we help each year.

"Islands of Time"
A story of wildlife fragility that takes place in the most remote forests, rivers and mountains of our world.
A keynote presentation By Brian Keating,
Introduced species, both accidental and intentional, can lead to serious ecological collapse with a surprising loss of biological diversity in a very short period of time. The island examples Brian illustrates will draw a direct link to our own “continental islands” of biodiversity here in Canada, from the small prairie coulee to our own National Parks, and our collective impact upon them.
During this visual journey, Keating will lead us through some remote islands, especially large tropical islands, exploring the home of some of the planets most beautiful yet strangest life forms. From tiny intensely coloured poisonous frogs to birds with impossible plumage and howling primitive primates that are capable of ricocheting from branch to branch, this is a story of wildlife discovery that takes place in the most remote forests, rivers and mountains of Papua New Guinea, Borneo, Madagascar, the Galapagos and other less known island landscapes. The adventure is a showcase of ecological fragility that reaches out to all Canadians.
