Sage Theatre and Edmonton’s Shadow Theatre are pleased to present CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION by Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright Annie Baker. Running February 6th to 14th in the Studio at Vertigo Theatre in Calgary, Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation is a delightful comedy about average, relatable people as they experience life—its hardships and its humor—propelling them to grow and change in subtle or significant ways. SYNOPSIS: Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation provides a glimpse into the antics of four New Englanders and their instructor, Marty, as they embark on a six-week drama class at the local community center. Within the confines of the harmless theatre games, hearts are quietly torn apart or opened to new possibilities. From the author of last season’s hit comedy Body Awareness, Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation is an intricately crafted, beautifully awkward diorama depicting the trials and experiences of a motley quintet swept up by subtle changes that lead to liberating transformation. Tuesday through Sunday: 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday: Additional 2:30pm matinee Students/Seniors: $25 Adults: $30

Calgary’s award-winning Spiritus Chamber Choir shines light on music linked to a variety of lights. The concert features “Everlasting Light” - a beautiful work for choir, solo voices, marimba, and crystal glasses by Canadian composer Christos Hatzis. Rod Squance, one of Calgary's most amazing marimba players, will join a trio of male vocal soloists including Daniel Cabena (countertenor), Oliver Munar (tenor) and Roderick Bryce (baritone). Spiritus will also explore works on the theme of light by Elgar and R. Murray Schafer, and two newly commissioned works - "Even In Our Sleep” by Canadian composer David MacIntyre and "Song of the Phosphor Lights” by Calgary composer Zachary Wadsworth. The performance will be enhanced with unique lighting. Don’t miss! Since its founding in 1995, Spiritus Chamber Choir has enriched the Calgary and Canadian choral scene with performances of high-quality choral repertoire. Known for diverse programming, Spiritus Chamber Choir continues to receive national and international recognition, with broadcasts on CBC Radio Two, the Healey Willan Award from the Canada Council in 2013, the Heinrich Schütz Perpetual Trophy at the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition in Cork, Ireland (2014), and more.

The Daisy Theatre is Calgary audience favorite Ronnie Burkett unleashed…unscripted, by the seat of his pants, manipulating and voicing his characters through variety acts, impromptu monologues, musical numbers and audience participation, featuring a cast of forty marionette characters. Since its premiere at the 2013 Luminato Festival, this unique performance event has played to thousands, with audiences and critics alike falling in love with the ridiculous, tender, outrageous antics of Daisy Theatre favorites Esme Massengill, Mrs. Edna Rural and beloved fairy child Schnitzel. Variety numbers parody theatrical genres from opera, music hall, Las Vegas, French cabaret and vaudeville with characters such as lounge singer Rosemary Focaccia, marionette ventriloquist Meyer Lemon, chanteuse Jolie Jolie, and the filthiest lesser royal ever to hit the stage, in what Vancouver’s Georgia Straight calls “one of the best shows you’ll ever see”. With the ever-changing content and nightly improv in an intimate setting, The Daisy Theatre is truly a “see it more than once” theatrical experience! Suitable for audiences 16+. No latecomers admitted. Ronnie Burkett Celebrated as one of Canada’s foremost theatre artists, Ronnie Burkett founded his Theatre of Marionettes in 1986 and has produced some of the world’s most evocative and elaborate puppetry, garnering him a Village Voice OBIE Award and the 2009 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre. His productions include Penny Plain, Billy Twinkle: Requiem for a Golden Boy, Ten Days on Earth, Provenance, and the acclaimed “Memory Dress Trilogy” of Tinka’s New Dress, Street of Blood and Happy. Burkett’s work has been described as “profoundly eerie, strange and strangely beautiful” and “more camp than a boy scout’s tent”.

Solid Rock Baptist Church of Calgary recently held evangelistic meetings in six different parts of the Philippines. The meeting places included Tacloban which was devastated by Typhoon Hayian (Yolanda) in November of last year. The response to these meetings was very enthusiastic with about one hundred and fifty Filipino pastors from independent Baptist churches and many more persons in attendance. Seven preachers from the United States and Canada spoke at the Pastor's School in Tagaytay (near Manila) to conclude the series of gospel meetings that were held in Bicol, Tacloban, Iloilo City, Baladjay (Antique) and Davao (Mindanao) over a five week period. Over seven hundred Filipinos came to this meeting and nearly fifty persons from Solid Rock Baptist Church in Calgary, Canada. Many lives were changed as a result of the strong preaching. Another Pastor's School will be conducted in February 2015 to provide ongoing encouragement and help for the pastors and churches in the Philippines.

Alberta Theatre Projects presents: The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst By David van Belle and Eric Rose In association with Ghost River Theatre Based on the true story of an unimaginable journey! A visually stunning multimedia journey into deep waters. In 1969, British amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst seemed poised to win a solo, round-the-world sailing race. Suddenly, he went radio silent. Weeks later Crowhurst’s boat was found, hundreds of miles off course and with no sign of its captain. Only his logbooks remained to tell the tale of one man’s desire to win at any cost. From the award-winning company that created The Highest Step in the World (Enbridge playRites Festival, 2010), comes this dazzling and imaginative new play about the art of deception. How far would you go to win? Showtimes vary. Visit atplive.com for exact show dates and times.
