30 Day YYC Man-A-Thon. 30 days can start a habit. 30 days can make a difference. 30 days can change your life. In Alberta, 1 in 7 men will develop prostate cancer, but that’s not all. Men live an average of five fewer years than women, are at higher risk of heart attacks than women, and are less likely to see a health care provider. We want to change that. By making small, healthy habits a part of each day, you can lower your risks. By incorporating just one change for 30 days, you can begin a healthy habit. One small change can make a big difference; one small change might even save your life. Go to www.manathon.ca to sign up and start your 30 day change.

This isn't a typical "kiddie" cooking camp. Techniques like making food from scratch will be taught to put together healthy, delicious meals and snacks. Four themes are available to keep your child learning and having fun this summer. Week Long Half Day Camps run from 9 am to 12 pm Monday to Friday (For kids ages 6+) Culinary Masters - July 17 - 21 If your child has a desire to get creative in the kitchen and is already familiar with basic cooking skills, let them discover their inner foodie with this camp! Campers will use mystery basket ingredients to create their own recipe and learn how to prepare nutritious dishes with unique ingredients. Farm to Fork - July 24 - 28 Kids will learn all about urban agriculture to explore how food grows and how to cook nutritious meals from local ingredients. We will tour the South Health Campus community garden and kids will also plant their very own seedlings to take home. Kids will leave with all the recipes that they cooked. Kitchen Chemistry - August 14 - 18 Science has never been so much fun! Learn about enzymes to make cheese, proteins to make pasta and the chemistry behind sorbet then eat your culinary creations.

Get into the music! A masterful guitarist and top notch harpist, McLean’s raw and gravelly vocals bespeak of a life lived to the fullest, and a career spent performing in and around those countless small towns that dot the Canadian prairies. When it comes to the blues, however, McLean’s heart firmly beats to the ghosts of the delta greats--especially the incomparable Muddy Waters, with whom he toured over two decades ago. Just how important the Mojo Man was to the development of Big Dave can be gleaned in an 11-minute tribute, aptly titled ‘Muddy Waters for President’. Actually written for the dean of Chicago bluesmen, Muddy died before getting around to recording it. - Stony Plain Records Faded but Not Gone, nomination for Acoustic Album of the Year at the Blues Blast Awards (held yearly in Illinois), is Big Dave McLean’s seventh – and quite possibly – best album of this JUNO Award and Western Canadian Music Award winner’s lengthy career. Recorded while he was still trying to absorb the deaths of his mother and brother, Faded but Not Gone is a vital, deeply heartfelt expression of loss and recovery and McLean’s most personal album to date. Recorded in Nashville, TN at The Henhouse Studio with producer Steve Dawson, Faded but Not Gone features John Dymond and Gary Craig (of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings) as the stellar rhythm section on the album. Guests include Colin James, Colin Linden, and the McCrary sisters, and Steve Dawson is heavily featured as a session player on the album, accompanying Big Dave’s own fine National Steel and harmonica playing.

Martyn is a jaw-dropping guitar player who has been dubbed “The Welsh Springsteen”, with unique percussive style and powerful show-stopping voice. With a career spanning 30 years, 32 albums, over a half a million record sales and thousands of live performances, Martyn Joseph is a powerful singer and songwriter whose expressive and poignant lyrics speak to the soul. He touches genres of folk, rock, soul, folk funk and Americana, yet somehow all these labels cannot define the spirit of Martyn’s music. Think John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, although Martyn stands in his own right as a mesmerising live performer.

With storytelling and poetry in the lead, Claire's music is flanked by cheeky wit and swing vocals, and driven by her wild northern spirit. A prolific songwriter in both English and French, Claire's songs feature odes to 2-cycle oil, ballads of bad fishing buddies, meteorological metaphors, tunes from the trail, and bona fide Yukon love songs. From the Arctic to Australia, Claire has performed at numerous events and festivals. Claire Ness is also the Founder and Artistic Director of Yukon Circus Society.
