By Ellery Queen DECEIT & MURDER It’s 1940, and there is nowhere in the country seemingly more charming than Wrightsville. The Depression has abated, and the New England town is booming once again. There is hope in Wrightsville, but Ellery Queen has come looking for death. The mystery author is hoping for fodder for a novel, and he senses the corruption that lurks beneath the apple-pie façade. A jinxed house, poisonings and murder are all on the menu, as Queen sits back, waiting for crime to come to him… Calamity Town by Ellery Queen is used with the express permission of The Frederic Dannay Literary Property Trust, The Manfred B. Lee Family Literary Property Trust and their representatives, Jabberwocky Literary Agency, Inc

In February 2015, EMMEDIA presented the second PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival, a five-day event showcasing the critical innovation and creativity in the media arts community. Presenting local and national artworks at venues throughout the city, including two jam-packed nights at Festival Hall, the festival aimed to highlight an art form that by its very nature, is constantly evolving with the integration of ever-changing technological processes. On February 19, 2016, in anticipation of the 2017 iteration of the festival, we will be presenting PARTICLE + WAVE 2.5, a one-night performance and fundraiser at Festival Hall. Taking place from 7:00-11:00 pm, we will be featuring media art performances including a new performance by Halifax artist, Lisa Lipton. Fresh from her shortlist nomination for the 2015 Sobey Art Award, Lipton will be using PARTICLE + WAVE as a platform to debut her new audio-visual work, "Agonist" in collaboration with local media artist Carl Spencer. In addition, we open with Yankee Yankee (Whitney Ota) playing a live soundtrack to Aran Wilkinson-Blanc's film "TransfiX", and we end off the night with the super fun musical stylings of Sleepy Panther (Rita McKeough & Richard Brown). That's not all! Awesome door prizes will be given out throughout the night, as well as a silent auction featuring very unique items and experiences will be up for bids! This is definitely an evening not to be missed!

Visible Fictions | Glasgow, Scotland A MAGICAL TALE OF FRIENDSHIP In a forest somewhere near you, there is a band of brothers seeking to rid the land of evil and return hope to the poorly treated. They are lean, mean, justice-fighting machines. Nothing is as it seems in this Sherwood Forest, but one thing is for sure . . . no rogue is safe! (Nor the piggy banks of rich folks) Internationally acclaimed Visible Fictions returns to Calgary following a nearly soldout production of Jason and the Argonauts (2013.) Be prepared to unleash your imagination in this updated take on the classic Robin Hood tale. Recommended for Ages 7+

The Voxare String Quartet accompany a screening of Dziga Vertov's 1929 groundbreaking silent film, The Man With a Movie Camera. Vertov's 1929 silent Soviet masterpiece ranked as the 8th greatest film ever by the British Film Institute, and is stunningly and painstakingly scored by Voxare. Documenting urban scenes in Moscow and Ukraine, the camera captured citizens from dawn to dusk in all aspects of life — mundane, athletic, dangerous, and breathtaking. Drawing on the feast of Soviet-era quartet music composed during the same time period as the film, Voxare uses its ingenuity, musical prowess, and aesthetic sensibilities to create an unforgettable film and music experience.
