Would you like to have a cute puppy and only commit for a year? Would you like to learn dog training skills while enhancing the life of an Albertan with a disability? Do you want to help someone in your community? Do you want a puppy and not have to pay for food, equipment, or vet bills? Then contact us (kerri@dogswithwings.ca or 780-944-8011) if you are able to provide a safe, stable, and loving home for one of our service dogs in-training! At DOGS WITH WINGS (DWW), we train dogs to do the seemingly impossible. You play an important part in a DWW dog’s development by committing to being a Puppy Raiser. A Puppy Raiser is a 24-hour, 7 days per week volunteer position. The role of the Puppy Raiser is to socialize a puppy to as many environments and situations as possible. The puppy must be exposed to various situations, on a regular basis, such as: offices, malls, restaurants, downtown areas, elevators, and public transportation. As a Puppy Raiser, your puppy will accompany you on all trips out of the home. You will attend four puppy classes a month that are 45-60 minutes in duration with your puppy’s trainer. The ultimate goal of a Puppy Raiser is to help the puppy develop sufficient social skills to behave in such a manner that its presence will be acceptable in all circumstances.

Martyn is a jaw-dropping guitar player who has been dubbed “The Welsh Springsteen”, with unique percussive style and powerful show-stopping voice. With a career spanning 30 years, 32 albums, over a half a million record sales and thousands of live performances, Martyn Joseph is a powerful singer and songwriter whose expressive and poignant lyrics speak to the soul. He touches genres of folk, rock, soul, folk funk and Americana, yet somehow all these labels cannot define the spirit of Martyn’s music. Think John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, although Martyn stands in his own right as a mesmerising live performer.

Formed in 2014, the Montrose Trio is a collaboration stemming from a long and fruitful relationship between pianist Jon Kimura Parker and the Tokyo String Quartet. The Toronto-based Cecilia String Quartet (CSQ) is applauded for their “powerful” (Chicago Sun-Times) and “dauntingly perfect” (Berliner Zeitung) performances. To celebrate the start of their second decade as an ensemble, the Quartet has initiated Celebrating Canadian Women in Music—a spotlight on a ‘quartet’ of immensely talented female Canadian composers from which it commissioned the creation of four new works, one of which will be premiered at this concert. CSQ is joined in this concert by 2015 Honens Prize Laureate Luca Buratto.

Get into the music! Zachary Lucky is unapologetically old-school country, armed with a husky, baritone voice, he carries himself like a younger Richard Buckner or a heartier Doug Paisley and receives comparisons to songwriters such as Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson. He sings of Canadian places and people as knowingly as does Townes Van Zandt. It's a relatable show on many levels, and conjures universal feelings that have passed through our collective timelines. Already hailed as a master storyteller by outlets ranging from No Depression to The Globe and Mail, Lucky’s Everywhere ‘A Man Can Be’ is his most powerful statement to date.

Rehearsing Hamlet, The Last of the Mohicans, A Christmas Carol and The Gospel of Luke on their way, they travel by camel through deep snow and the wilds of the gold rush to fill a desperately needed performance contract. … They’re not actors. … They arrive on Christmas Eve, just in time to walk onto the stage to perform. The result is the most sublime, divine and hilariously entertaining rendering of the Christmas story ever told. To reserve call 1-800-267-7553

Clark Rockefeller is a real life conman of the highest order, now serving a near-life sentence in a California State prison, and iconic musician and provocateur Torquil Campbell wants to try him on for size.
