Team Philosophies & Selection ProcessIt is the mission of HHBH community soccer to provide soccer development for young players (U5 to U14) in a fun and enjoyable environment and by minimizing the amount of travel (all at a reduced cost). Division 1 Vision (U5 to U8): For the U5 to U8 players the soccer program will focus on individual skill development such as dribbling, shooting and passing at weekly practices. Skill development allows the players maximum contact time with the ball and will generate a feeling of accomplishment. The players will pick up the basic concepts of soccer such as offence, defense, and team play. Games in U5 and U6 will be amongst other HHBH teams and incorporated into the regular practice schedule. U8 games will be played against other communities local to HHBH. Games will be focused on having fun. Overall the focus of our coaching program will be to develop a respect for teammates, opposing players and coaches, and a sense of fair play. Div 1 Selection Process: Even strength co-ed teams will be selected. Division 2 Vision (U10 to U14): The soccer program for the U10 to U14 players continues building on the foundations laid in Div 1. Skill development still encompasses individual ball handling but is expanded to more complex team play. Concepts of individual positions will be introduced. Games and practices will continue to be fun and rewarding for all players. In this age group the competitive nature of the game will become more important. Div 2 Selection Process: The communities that HHBH is involved with will attempt to organize separate boys and girls teams in these age groups but that mainly depends on the number of players registered. A coaches meeting will be held after registration to organize the teams. Please note: If you experience any difficulties with the selection process please address your concerns to Terry Killackey ( 289-0046 or tkillackey@taylorngl.com )
