October 2009 Northbound Stoney Trail to Eastbound Crowchild Trail
Update Purpose As you may be aware, the ramp from northbound Stoney
Trail to eastbound Crowchild Trail has been closed in order to begin construction of
bridges on Crowchild Trail to complete the final interchange. Please be advised that we intend to open the new
northbound Stoney Trail to eastbound Crowchild Trail ramp before the 2009 winter shutdown,
weather permitting. The traffic signal cycle lengths recently have been
re-worked to accommodate the new traffic pattern at Crowchild Trail. Please see the attached drawing for more details. Background Stoney Trail new construction and upgrading is being
completed between Trans-Canada Highway 1 and the Deerfoot Trail (Highway 2). The
project includes planning, design and construction of new interchanges at Crowchild Trail
and at Scenic Acres Link. This also required the reconstruction of Tuscany Boulevard
and the removal of the existing signalized intersections. The new roadway is an integral part of the overall
transportation network for the Province of Alberta and The City of Calgary. The Stoney
Trail Expansion will enhance mobility for Calgarians by relieving traffic pressure on
local roads, and will accommodate traffic demands from the development in the area. Further Information Alberta Transportation, The City of Calgary and the
Project Team are committed to keeping citizens informed about the progress of this
project. If you require information about the interchanges please call Stantec Consulting
Ltd. at (403) 716-8198 or email Information is also available on the Alberta Transportation web site at . Click on ‘Ring Roads’ and then ‘Calgary Ring Roads
