The Varsity Community Centre is the heart of our community. Together, the Board of Directors and office staff strive to develop and implement the policies, services and programs for the members of the community. Financial records, minutes and correspondence are at the Community Centre.
Your "working" Board of Directors meets each month to review the administration and operation of programs, facilities and services. All board members are volunteers dedicated to a stronger community. Hall Rentals, Bartending and Catering Services (288-9001). The Varsity Community Centre has rooms available for rent to members and the public. Hall rentals, bartending and catering services for weddings, socials and special events are desirable services both to the customer and to the community alike. Varsity depends a great deal on the revenues generated from hall rentals and catering, for the operation of the entire facility.

Crowchild Twin Arena (239-0171) The Varsity, Scenic Acres and Silver Springs Community Associations jointly own and operate Crowchild Twin Arena. This facility houses two hockey rinks with spectator areas and a spacious lounge overlooking the two rinks. The Crowchild Hockey Association and the Crowchild Skating Club operate programs out of the Arena. Your Varsity Community membership is required to participate in these programs. Credits earned through the Bingo Volunteer Credit program at the Varisty Community Centre may be used towards the required fees for the hockey and skating programs. DEPOSIT of 50% is required at the time of booking. The deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation.
VARSITY ASSOCIATION MEMBERS receive a 10% discount on all room rentals.
DAMAGE DEPOSIT equivalent to the amount of the room rental is required at time of final payment. A charge of $75/hour will be deducted from Damage Deposit for every hour past 2a.m.
PAYMENT of all fees is due 7 days prior to the function. Cash or cheque 2% discount when received 7 days in advance.
BAR SERVICE
The Varsity Community Centre is licensed and therefore is committed to following Alberta Liquor Laws. No homemade alcohol will be permitted on site and management has the right to request I.D. or refuse service.
Members and guests have two options when holding functions at the Centre:
1. The Centre provides bar service, covers all costs and collects all revenues. The charge for beer, wine and cocktails is $3.75 (GST included). Juices and soft drinks are $1.50. Specialty items like liqueurs, corona, etc are $4.00.
2. The client purchases a permit from a liquor store, all alcohol, hires the VCA bartender at $12.50/hr, pays a corkage fee but collects all revenue from sales. One hour will be charged for set-up & take down. Corkage includes ice, glassware, all mixes and garnishes and is $3.25 p.p ($2 for beer/wine only bars).
We offer a good selection of Wines from France, Australia and Canada at less than market Prices.
